What People are Saying About This Glass Ball Fixture

Color Changing Solar Ball
I have nine of them in my yard, along with a number of other lights. At first my son said mom why so many lights, now he thinks they look good at night. Ordered two on my last order, unfortunately one came in defective and I am currently waiting for a replacement that was sent out. Other than that, I have had no problems with my lights. Balls are beautiful to watch as the color changes.

                                        Not the Greatest
I am another person that ordered 3 of these this summer. One has completely died after about a week, changed the battery and still does not work. The second one stopped working after about a month, I changed the battery and that one now works nicely. The 3rd one is not very bright and does not stay on long, I will be changing the battery in that one when I get a chance. I would not recomend these unless you get a really realy good deal since you will be having to replace the batteries in short order and crossing your fingers that they will work after.

So Pretty

I love the globe lights and the color changes are so pretty! Speed of mailing with free shipping was a little slow, but not bad, for free shipping. I actually thought their were more lights, but the one light was so beautiful and I ordered two, just a very nice addition to my deck lights (I placed them in potted plants around my huge deck). I get to look out my french doors and see their beauty at night.

Beautiful!
A neighbor down the block has color changing globes in her backyard, and they are very pretty, so I compared reviews and ordered one of these. I liked it so much that I ordered two more, but before they even arrived, someone stole the first one from my front flower bed. Perhaps that's why my neighbor has hers in her backyard. Anyway, these are beautiful globes with many vivid colors. They stay lit long into the night even after a cloudy day. They are easy to put together are place into the ground. I highly recommend them!

Happy
I bought several Moonrays lights a year ago and they started a gardening revolution for my 89-year-old mother. She loves them and they have been working for a year. So I just bought some more for her (lilies this time) and also some of the globe ones for my grandsons. The boys (ages 10 and 11) assembled and disassembled my own globe lights this year for a spot of color on a camping trip in July. The lights not only survived :-) but are still glowing now that we are in another location. I am really looking forward to getting the lilies!

Finally, Some That Work
Over the course of several days, I ordered 5 and returned 3 of these delightful lights, in the hopes of having 2 that would operate as advertised. The 3 that needed to be returned worked not at all, or for only 1-2 nights, and then stopped functioning. Finally, I have 2 that have been working wonderfully, and they provide just the right amount of alternating colorful light in my garden.

From what I could determine, either the auto/off switch on the units was not working, or the solar generating unit did not charge the battery, so if you're in the market for these lights, be prepared to receive and return some to have some that work.

Would I purchase more of them, yes, they truly are unique and "happy" additions to the garden.

Worth it!
I bought nine of these for my sidewalk and absolutely love them! I have read reviews of them being unreliable and did have one that didn't work. It's light sensor was ineffective and stayed on all the time. Amazon sent me a new one within 36 hours, amazing! I find myself sitting on my porch at twilight just to watch them come on. I've had them for about six months now and have had no problems. They are also very durable and made of thick glass. I've slammed one with my car door (ouch) and dropped one on the sidewalk while installing and they don't have a scratch on them. The glow also looks spectacular from the road and the beautiful changing colors ensure that you will never get bored with them.

Fantastic Light Show
Recently purchased 9 of these Colour-changing Glass Ball Fixtures, and after a few little discrepancies (which were expedited and handled in a most impressive and professional manner and procedure), are well worth acquiring.
The changing of colors and the display of light, in and around the patio and rockery, is most pleasant and a real conversation item.
Everybody has commented how beautiful they are and want to know where to obtain them, i.e. never have seen them before. Well worth the money. You will not be disappointed.

Beautiful!
I ordered two of these initially and after seeing them in action, ordered two more. They are absolutely beautiful and the two that I first ordered have been working well for over a month. Not sure how long they light up at night, but I know they go for at least four - five hours (I have them in an area that receives direct sunlight most of the day). I would expect them to cost much more, but at this price they are a bargain. The only downside so far is the glass globe, which if broken, would render the light pretty much useless. But its hard to imagine getting this kind of lighting effect using a plastic globe.

UPDATE: A month into using these (I now have five), one has failed (replacing the battery did not work) for no apparent reason. The other four are still going strong. They do need A LOT of sunshine to be really effective, but are really eye catching and, despite the failure of one of them, I am still very pleased with the purchase overall. NOTE that these should not be relied upon for illumination purposes, only for decorative use. BUYER BEWARE: The price is suddenly rising (now up to $14), at lease on my screen. ANOTHER UPDATE: Fixed the one that failed by ordering another nicad battery and charging it for a day before installing it. Unit not works perfectly. PRICE is increasing greatly (when shipping is factored in) as I have noticed happens a lot on Amazon with other items. I paid less than $14 including shipping for all of mine, so beware!

Using Tiki Torches for a Festive Island Party Atmosphere

When you mention tiki torches, different people may envision different things.  In an earlier traditional island setting, these torches would have been the only means of light outside of the fires used for cooking or warming.  But, most people would associate a tiki torch with a festive party atmosphere on the beach during an evening luau.  With the latter in mind, many party hosts seek to garner this festive beach atmosphere by utilizing tiki torches as part of their outdoor party lighting.

In addition to the relaxing atmosphere produced by the dancing flame, tiki torches can be an inexpensive way in which to provide lighting during an evening outdoor gathering.  This type lighting can be easily located, or relocated if necessary, wherever light is needed.  They are available to match most any style of decor you choose from the traditional bamboo torch to tiki style torches made of ceramic, metal or other materials.  In addition to their availability in different materials, solar powered tiki torches are available for those that choose to go the green route or for people that may have concerns with the safety issues involved with open flames burning around small children or elderly adults.

Of course, the open flames have benefits other than just their lighting or the festive atmosphere they help produce.  By using citronella oil in place of lamp oil, you will receive the added benefit of repelling the mosquitoes that may have become a nuisance to your guests.  Tiki torches are very low-maintenance and, of course, are irreplaceable if your outdoor party theme of choice is a luau or other outdoor island theme.

Just remember a few things when it comes to safely using tiki torches around your property.  Always make sure that they are securely anchored when in use to help prevent being accidentally knocked over by pets or small children.  Never burn the torches underneath a porch, patio, or awning and be sure to keep all flammable materials away from the open flame.  Make sure you store the torches in an upright position if you do not drain the lamp oil prior to storage.  By following these few simple safety rules, you, your family, and your guests will have a fun filled evening that can provide many great memories for years to come.

Patio Party Lights Provide a Festive Touch

No party in the great outdoors will be complete without the proper patio party lights creating the festive atmosphere necessary to set the proper mood.  Many patios are immaculately decorated and really shine during the daylight hours but become totally useless once the sun goes down.  Why spend all that time and money creating the perfect outdoor space to only be able to use it during the day.  Take the extra steps necessary to make your patio or porch the perfect atmosphere that a proper outdoor party lighting plan can provide.

Providing your outdoor space with the proper patio party lights is a lot more involved than just placing any type lighting on the patio.  The proper lighting plan should take safety and security in consideration, as well as, attempting to provide a fun and interesting atmosphere for your guests to enjoy.  While your patio may seem to only consist of one large space, it actually encompasses several different functional areas.  Certain areas will require mood lighting that provides for the proper atmosphere for your guests to gather, converse and mingle with one another.  Other areas include the space where you may cook and prepare food that must be more brightly lit.  There is also the area provided for your guests to eat which will require illumination somewhere in between the other amount of light.  Always remember to not overdo your lighting.  Your patio should be a place for people to feel comfortable, not to play a baseball game.

The great thing that you will find when you begin planning your lighting scheme is that there are numerous different styles, sizes, shapes and designs of patio party lights.  There are literally dozens of different lights made for every taste imaginable.  If you have been forward thinking and have included lighting in the original design of your patio, utilizing embedded lighting placed in steps, rails, posts and other such areas will be a very easy matter.  This type lighting can even be placed in the floor of your patio or deck since they are manufactured to be waterproof and also can be walked on.

When evaluating your lighting needs, you may find that something as simple as common Christmas string lighting can work in several areas of your lighting plan.  Again, this type lighting is readily available and you will be able to create any type color scheme you can imagine.  Patio party lights are also available as lamp posts, torches, lanterns and even special lights that are designed to be attached to your favorite patio umbrella.

Even areas where there is no access to electricity are easily lighted today through the use of solar powered outdoor lights.  I am sure you will find that all of the different types of lighting we have touched on earlier are either available in solar or battery powered units.  Utilizing some of these type fixtures allow you to be even more creative with your outdoor lighting plan since they can be located anywhere with few limitations.  As you can see, whatever lighting scheme you can dream up, you are sure to find a wide selection of patio party lights that will easily fit you needs, as well as brightening up your next party or family gathering.

Patio Lights Can Brighten Any Party

No patio or porch is entirely complete without the proper use of patio lights.  If your patio is not adequately lighted, you will be unable to utilize your patio after dark, thus losing a large percentage of the time you have available to enjoy this much desired amenity.  However, when you set out to light your patio, you cannot just do so in a haphazard manner.  The proper patio lighting plan requires research on the products available and the location in which they will be installed.

Outdoor patio lighting involves much more than just jazzing up your patio for those late evening parties we all know and love.  The proper use of lighting should create the right mood as well as providing for the safety and security of your guests.  You will need to select the appropriate type of patio lights for the different areas of your patio that you are needing to illuminate.  While the area where you cook and serve will need to be brightly lit, the conversation and gathering spots require much less light.  Be careful not to use too much lighting.  After all, the goal is not to be able to land aircraft on your patio but to create ambiance and an atmosphere that makes people comfortable.

There are many different styles, sizes and designs of patio lights available on the market today.  Whatever your taste or preferences are, you are sure to find just the right lighting method you desire.  One type of light available is embedded lights which are best installed during the construction phase of your patio.  Embedded lighting can be placed in railings, steps, posts or any other area that would accept a recessed type light.

One option people like to use to create a bright and festive atmosphere without having to obtain elaborate lighting is the use of common Christmas light strings.  As you know, this type lighting is readily available and comes with almost every color bulb imaginable.  There are also many other type patio lights such as lanterns, umbrella lights, lamp posts and some people even use torches to provide lights in areas electricity may not be readily available or if they are going for that wild, jungle look.

Of course, there is another option available if you do not have electricity near where lighting is desired.  Many of the different types of lighting mentioned above come in solar powered varieties which make for easy installation and can be located almost anywhere with few limitations.  No matter what style of lighting you crave or what or where needs lighting, a little research will provide you with many options in outdoor patio lights that will surely be a hit at your next party or family gathering.

Add Outdoor String Lighting for a Festive Touch

If you would like to add colorful lighting to the exterior of your home for an upcoming party or just as a neat feature to accent your porch or patio, consider adding some outdoor string lighting.  These lights are available in many different varieties and can be easily installed anywhere electricity is readily available.  However, if you would like to add some outdoor lighting where there is no electricity such as for use as camping party lights or you are just attempting to be more green, these lights are available in solar powered strings that will help you achieve your desire to brighten the area and will also save you money as well.  It is not everyday you can add a quality feature to your home, help the environment and save money too.

If you choose to pursue the use of the solar powered outdoor string lighting, you will find their installation to be a matter of just placing them where ever your heart desires.  They require no running of extension cords that endanger and hamper the easy flow of guests or the hiring of an electrician to install additional electrical outlets.  Simply locate the solar panel in a place that receives sunlight throughout the majority of the day and these lights will still be burning long after the most hardy revelers have left the party.  The more sunlight the solar cell absorbs, the longer into the night the lights will brighten the great outdoors.

These are not your parents solar lights.  These units operate much more efficiently today due to the improvement of the nickel cadmium batteries that store the energy and the LED light bulbs that burn longer on a charge and utilize much less power than their incandescent counterparts.  LED light bulbs will also last much longer that a regular light bulb thus providing an additional savings avenue.  If you connect these outdoor LED light strings to a timer activated by a photocell, you will save additional energy and money.  LED lights also burn much cooler than other bulbs so you do not have to be as concerned about placing these units in areas where children could come in contact with the bulbs.

Some of the things you can beautify with outdoor string lighting are trees, shrubs, fences, posts, patios, decks and gardens.  In addition to enhancing the looks of these items, lighting can improve the visibility on and around your property thus providing a safer experience for your family and guests.  Regardless of your needs, you will find many choices in this type lighting that can match your present decor as well as providing some whimsical touches should you want to have some fun with your exterior lighting.

Patio String Lights are Fun and Easy to Use

Providing lighting for your patio, affords you the opportunity to step outside the box and bring a new experience to your patio that can be fun and delightful.  The many choices in outdoor lighting that are at your disposal today allow you to step way outside the box and provide some great looking lights that not only serve the lighting purpose but can provide a whimsical look into your personality.  There is no better choice available to you than the dozens of patio string lights you will find on the lighting market today.

The styles and colors available can almost be so overwhelming as to make it difficult to choose which type you will purchase.  If you can imagine it, someone is likely out there manufacturing and selling it.  From cartoon characters to chili peppers to Nascar party lights and every thing in between, I am positive you will find something that will tickle your fancy.

Most of these patio string light sets allow you to attach up to three strings together.  This should provide you with enough lights to accommodate  the entire length of even the largest porch or patio.  There are also many styles available that are solar powered, thus allowing you to accent areas out of reach of electrical power such as fences or bushes on the perimeter of your property.  These lights store enough energy in many cases to outlast even the most dedicated party goer.

Another neat and fun idea is to purchase a set of lights for your patio umbrella.  Patio umbrella lights are different from traditional patio string lights as they branch out with a spoke configuration, so that you can run a string along each rib of the umbrella.  Again these are available in solar power so you do not have electrical cords running across your patio.

Just a couple of things to consider if you choose to utilize this type lighting.  Make sure you purchase multiple sets at the same time to ensure your lighting is perfectly matched.  Also, only purchase sets with standard size incandescent or LED light bulbs that can easily be replaced.  You do not want to have to replace a whole strand of lights just because one bulb has blown.  Last, but not least, the most important thing to remember when purchasing patio string lights is to have fun with it and do not get hung up on providing the same ole look as everyone else.

Solar Patio Lights Can Really Liven Up the Party

Nothing adds to the festive atmosphere of your outdoor gathering like some creative festive lighting.  Unfortunately, we do not always have electricity either available in the area we wish to occupy or either it is not available in ample supply.  When you find yourself desiring to entertain on your patio after dark and adequate lighting is not available due to a lack of electricity, you can now purchase and install solar patio lights that can provide all the lighting you will need.

I know what you are thinking.  These solar lights are dim and dull facsimiles of regular outdoor lighting, they only burn for a couple of hours and the choice of solar light is extremely limited.  Well let me tell you this.  The solar lighting available today is not your parent's solar powered lights.  Outdoor solar lights now come with detachable power cells that allow you to place the lighting most anywhere you desire.  The nickle cadmium batteries powering these solar power lights store enough energy to power the led lighting and burn brightly for eight to twelve hours when the power cell is placed properly.

There are also dozens of choices available such as solar lanterns, solar deck lights, solar powered garden lights and most any solar patio lighting you can imagine.  These lights are not only available in many different stylish types, colors and finishes that match the most elegant decor, but also come in all kinds of whimsical themes for every party occasion you will have.  All these choices not only allow you to provide the festive lighting you are attempting to achieve but will also let you light pathways, walkways and steps thus providing a much safer environment for your guests.

So the next time you are planning an outdoor party and are looking for a way to light the different areas of your patio or other places on your property, take a look at the different types of outdoor solar lighting available.  I think you will find some great solar garden lights that will enhance the overall appearance of your property and also some stylish or whimsical solar patio lights that will contribute to making your gathering a memorable experience for everyone that attends.

Outdoor Party Lights Can Be Fun and Practical

When my wife and I purchased an existing home in the country, there was one room I wanted to add to the back of our house and that was a media room.  However, my wife saw that area differently and thought a nice big porch would be a better fit on the back of our home.  Well, I have to tell you, I immediately put my foot down and started the addition of a nice 16 by 40 back porch.  Since that time, we have had many nice gatherings on our new porch and everyone seems to enjoy this addition to our home.  One of the items that contribute greatly to these friendly gatherings are the outdoor party lights that help to decorate the porch.

Some of these lights serve a dual purpose and also provide some insect repellent function as well as the outdoor party lighting.  Others are part of the porch design and serve to provide lighting for the functional areas such as the cooking and serving points and some provide for safety and security.  But the ones that get the most attention are the more whimsical ones that look like chili peppers, cows or some cartoon character or the other.  We also have outdoor flood lights throughout the rest of the property that serves to create some interesting focal points at night as well as again serving the more practical functions of safety and security.

If you plan to have a party or other gathering in the outdoor areas of your property, do not forget to add some outdoor party lights.  Once you begin to look for this type lighting you will find many choices.  You may choose the whimsical ones like I mentioned above, or maybe just string some lights that you would normally utilize for Christmas decoration.  Which ever type you arrive at, you will find there are many different power sources available.  If you have ample electrical power in the area you are entertaining in, you may choose to go with traditional incandescent electrical lights or the newer, more energy efficient LED lights.  If you lack electrical power in the area, or would just rather take a more green approach, there are numerous choices powered utilizing solar energy.

Just remember when you start to run your outdoor party lights, you will achieve a much better result if you take the time to develop an overall plan for the area.  As you develop your plan, think about the type lighting you will need in the different functional areas.  Obviously, the cooking and serving areas will need brighter lighting than will the sitting and conversation areas.  Be sure to provide some path lighting and walkway lighting in order to make your property as safe as possible for your guests.  However, when developing your plan, keep in mind that you want the lighting to add to the festive nature of your party area so do not take it too seriously.
